Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
